My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex Anime: Cast & Staff Revealed, Plus Opening Song
The official website for the upcoming anime adaptation of Tomohiro Matsu and Kouji Ogata’s My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex (Boku no Yayoi-san) light novel series revealed three more cast members, the opening song artist, and a new key visual on Tuesday.
The new cast members include:
Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kenta Katakura
Ai Kakuma as Natsumi Katakura
Rie Takahashi as Mao Katakura
The show will premiere on AT-X on January 11 at 11:30 p.m., before airing later that evening on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, BS11, and KBS Kyoto. The anime will also stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in Japan.
The opening song “Eien no Kotae” (Eternal Answer) will be performed by Kano. The song’s CD single will ship on January 27 and will include an instrumental version of the song, as well as a coupling track.
Kouichi Kusakawa (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Heaven’s Memo Pad, Nanoha franchise) is directing the anime at Seven Arcs Pictures, with Fumihiko Shimo (New Game!, Clannad, Air) supervising the series scripts. Tomoya Takashima (Nanoha franchise, Fate/Kaleid liner Prisma Illya Films) is designing the characters.
The light novel series launched in Japan in March 2015 under Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko imprint, and the ninth volume shipped on October 12. Matsu launched another light novel series under Dengeki Bunko titled My Girlfriend Is a Villainess (Boku no Kanojo, Ga Villainess desu) in March 2017. The series’ fifth volume shipped on September 12.
The novel series centers on Kenta Katakura, a high school student who lives with his beautiful stepmother Yayoi and her cute daughter Mao. One day, he accidentally sees Mao changing and learns that she is actually his ex-girlfriend from middle school whom he thought had died in an accident. He tries to keep this a secret from Yayoi, but as he gets closer to both mother and daughter, the secret becomes harder to keep. Can Kenta protect his family’s happiness?
